    <p> A new species, <i>Acidon sugii</i> sp. nov. is described from Ani-jima, Chichi-jima and Haha-jima Islands of the Ogasawara Islands, Japan with illustrations of the male and female genitalia. The genus <i>Acidon</i> is newly recorded from Japan. The new species can be distinguished from the closely related species, <i>A. calcicola</i> by the bipectinate male antennae and short and centrally obtusely flexed aedeagus. <i>Perciana marmorea</i> and <i>Hepatica nakatanii</i> are successfully distinguished using standard DNA barcoding.</p>

    The genus <i>Spodoptera</i> Guenée mainly distributed from tropical to subtropical regions throughout the world includes many pests of food crops, vegetables, forage crops and grasses. The African armyworm, <i>Spodoptera exempta</i> (Walker) has been known from Africa, South East Asia, parts of Australia to some Pacific islands as a pest of crops or pasture, however, no damage by this pest had been reported from Japan before 2010. From Japan, only five adult specimens had been collected before 2010. These specimens probably flew from the tropical region of Asia to Japan because <i>S. exempta</i> is a well known migratory pest in Africa. Severe damage of forage crops and grasses by this species was recognized for the first time from Japan at Nansei Islands in 2010. Therefore, survey using a synthetic sex pheromone for <i>S. exempta</i> was conducted by the Okinawa Prefectural Plant Protection Center and the Kagoshima Prefectural Institute for Agricultural Development. As a result, several species of <i>Spodoptera</i> were collected by the pheromone trap for <i>S. exempta</i> including <i>S. exempta</i>. We made a key to distinguish all eight Japanese species of <i>Spodoptera</i> mainly using male genitalia. Furthermore, we were able to distinguish six Japanese<i> Spodoptera</i> pest species using standard DNA barcoding.

    【マルチ同定ツールの開発】
    対象分類群の全種一覧を公開するとともに,その中でも特に種数の多い分類群であるシタバガ亜科とカラスヨトウ亜科について,日本国内で農業害虫として知られているほぼすべての種の成虫標本画像を公開することができた.さらにカラスヨトウ亜科の全種とウスベリケンモン亜科の一部の種については,類似種や近縁種(海外産を含む)の分布・生態・寄主植物・識別法・害虫としての発生状況等の情報整理を一通り終えたため,それらのデータも併せて公開した.

    【潜在害虫の推定】
    マルチ同定ツールの開発と同様,果樹害虫種を含むグループを対象とし,成虫と幼生期の分子・形態分類学的研究を進めた.昨年度に学会発表を行った成果(キシタクチバ亜科Hypocala属)を学術誌に投稿したほか,継続的に取り組んできた分類群(ヨトウガ亜科Tiracola属)では,東南アジアにおける著名害虫を含む日本産2種の幼生期を解明し,学会発表を行った.
    以上の結果を踏まえ,これまでに取り組んできた4分類群(キリガ亜科Spodoptera属,ヨトウガ亜科Tiracola属,フサヤガ亜科Targalla属,キシタクチバ亜科Hypocala属)の各種種情報(分類・食性・分布情報・害虫としてのステータス等)の比較と考察を行ったところ,ヤガ類の害虫化と関係が深いと考えられる複数の特性を見出すことができた.また,系統情報がこうした特性の進化史を反映している可能性があること,これら生物が持つ種情報を用いて,潜在的な害虫種を抽出・推定できる可能性があることが示唆された.
