    Tooth bleaching compositions containing titanium dioxide, which exerts a photocatalytic effect upon light irradiation, a compound capable of evolving hydrogen peroxide in an aqueous solution, and a thickener; and a method of bleaching a discolored tooth which comprises adhering such a composition on the surface of the discolored tooth, irradiating the surface with light and bleaching the discolored tooth due to the photocatalytic effect thus achieved. These compositions can be easily applied to discolored teeth in practice and establish a sufficient bleaching effect without showing any decrease in the photocatalytic activity inherent thereto.
