    The purposes of this study were to verify the validity of the psychological stress model in high school athletes, and to investigate the relationship between each variable of the psychological stress process. The subjects were 449 first and second year high school athletes (245 males and 204 females). They were required to complete a questionnaire that consisted of a stressor scale for his/her performance, a cognitive appraisal scale (2 subscales: influence of stressors, and controllability), a stress-coping scale for high school athletes (5 subscales: problem solving, avoidance, catharsis, distractive recreation, and positive thought), a stress response scale for high school athletes (5 subscales: depressive-anxious feeling, irritated-angry feeling, restlessness, helplessness, and withdrawal), and a motivated participation scale for athletic club activity. First, the validity and reliability of the cognitive appraisal scale and motivated participation scale in athletic club activity were verified through factor analysis. Second, hierarchical multiple regression analyses were conducted assuming the following process "stressor → cognitive appraisal → stress-coping → stress response". The results verified the validity of the psychological stress model in high school athletes, and found that there were two patterns of psychological stress process. One was "influence of stressors → emotion-focused coping → increasing of stress response" and the other was "controllability → problem-focused coping → decreasing of stress response". Finally, the psychological stress process, from stressor to motivated participation in athletic club activity, was analyzed as an index of athlete adaptation. As a consequence, it was shown that the relationship between cognitive appraisal and stress-coping had a positive effect on motivation in athletic club activity, and it was clarified that actual athlete adaptation followed an almost linear course through the steps of the psychological stress model.

    The purpose of this study was to make clear the bases and functions of coaches' social power. Three hunderd and eighty-nine players, belonging in highschool sport clubs, were administered two questionaires; one was to measure the bases of the power their coaches had, the other was to measure players' estimation of influences from coaches and their adaptability to sport activities in the clubs. From the result of factor analysis, six bases of the power were extracted as the factors; expertise-referability, apprehension to punishment, expectation of benefit, enthusiasm of coaches, legitimacy, and affiliation to and acceptance from coaches. Then, the power of coaches were differentiated into six types in terms of the bases. The functions of each type of power were examined by means of multiple regression analysis. It was found that coaches' personal power which included expert-reference, benefit, enthusiasm and affiliation-acceptance power had mainly contributed to coaches' influence. Especially, benefit and enthusiasm power had been playing crucial roles in coaching. On the other hand, punishment and legitimate power, so-called position power, were found not to have significant positive effects. It was speculated that influences based on punishment power could not be accepted privately, and would have negative effects on players' adaptation to activities, and that legitimate power was in existence on personal power.

    (1) The theory and method of rhythmical gymnastic and it's historical background
    Rhythmical gymnastics aims at natural movement education. Rhythmical gymnastics, in common with other German "Modern Gymnastics" and Scandinavian "Women's Gymnastics", improves all innate organic movements and contributes to the physical, mental and emotional developments as a whole.
    All natural movements in rhythmical gymnastics have such essential common characteristics as "wholeness", "rhythmical flow" and "harmony". They are also characterized in the central movement theory, in which movement should flow from the center of the body to peripheral parts of the body.
    (2) Teaching gymnastics and development of gymnastics programs
    Gymnastics programme, which is composed of a variety of movements, is of great importance for understanding holistic unity. Students should be taught to refine their movement through the programme. With well-composed gymnastics programme, students experience the feeling of succession, rhythmical flow, dynamic quality of movement and harmony. These programmes can be choreographed by the teacher or by the students.
    The use of music, rhythm and hand apparatus facilitates students to broaden their scope of gymnastics and make their movements flow naturally.
    (3) Simultaneous Visualization and Its Analysis of Moving Human Body by Means of High-speed Infrared Radiometer
    Infrared radiometric systems are mainly applied to detect external and internal flaws of dynamic components and etiological cause of human beings, as remote-sensing non-destructive methods. A simultaneous and quantitative method using the high-speed IR system carried out to visualize and analyze motion and thermal images of the human body in the sport engineering quantitatively.
