    Illusory sensations about posture and motion can be perceived in various cases. Self-motion and body sway caused by virtually moving sound-source images were investigated. The center of pressure and the sensation level of self-motion were measured and analyzed to discuss their characteristics in terms of the interaural time difference (ITD) and interaural level difference (ILD) caused by moving sound. As a result, ITD and ILD larger than those for 30 deg had an influence on self-motion and body sway. In addition, the azimuths that corresponded to ITD and ILD did not need to be matched.

    パフォーマンスの向上には効果的なトレーニングが必要である。効果的なトレーニングとするには、各個人の体力やスキルに相応しい運動を選択することが望ましい。しかし、パフォーマンスに注目するあまり、中には個人に相応しくない運動を選択する場合がある。本研究では、選択する運動として繰り返し運動であるスクワット運動とペダリング運動を例に、関節運動と表面筋電図を計測し、運動機能を定量的に評価した。この際、ひとつのトライアルでの全ストロークを初期、中期、後期の3つのフェーズに等分した。その上で、ストローク毎で関節運動と筋活動profileを求め、基礎統計量を推定した。これを用いて、フェーズの初期から後期にかけて有意に変化が現われない運動を、各個人に相応しい運動とした。(著者抄録)

    General exercise approaches are not convenient for some people in undertaking appropriate exercise due to the limited variety of present programs at existing exercise machines. Moreover, continuous support by one sports doctor is only available for a limited number of users. In this paper, therefore, we propose an Internet-based technical framework, which is designed on multi-tiered client/server architecture, for integrating and easily upgrading exercise programs. By applying the technical framework, a cycle ergometer health promotion system was developed for providing personally fitted. We also presented some facilities to assist sports doctors in quickly designing and remotely improving individual exercise protocols against cycle ergometer exercise based on a history database. Then we evaluated the Internet-based cycle ergometer system during two months of feasibility experiments for six elderly persons in terms of usability. As a result, the Internet-based cycle ergometer system was effective for continuously supporting the personal fitting procedure.

    For the elderly and the hard of hearing people, slow and clear speeches are easily heard and desirable for communications in daily life. Improving the listenability of speeches they hear, which maybe fast or unclear, will contribute to cross the barrier of communication. In this paper, we investigated a relation between the listenability and the fundamental frequency (F0) pattern of speeches uttered in some different ways, because Japanese is considered to be a pitch accent language. As a result of subjective evaluation of listenability of speech, some components relating to listenability were obtained. Transforming an input speech to approach its F0 pattern to that of listenable, improvement of listenability of the speech was observed. STRAIGHT speech analysis-synthesis method was used for extraction fundamental frequency and speech synthesis.

    In psycho-acoustical experiments, subjects are required to complete their task against acoustical stimuli through the experiments. The subjects get tired according to the difficulty of the task and the progress of time. It sometimes causes unexpected results on experiments. Such a kind of effect always happens in human whereas it is ideal if we could escape such effects. Probably, in practice, we will depend on our experiences and reports from subjects. Then estimation of mental stress of fatigue on the experiments is required. In this paper, variations in finger plethysmograph and respiration as tone-search task is carried on are investigated with principal component analysis. As a result, a specific component is found, which may have close relation to mental stress or fatigue on psycho-acoustical experiments.

    Low-back-pain is one of the most common pain problems. Studies of muscle fatigue regarding the low-back-pain have aimed to observe the benefit of surface electromyograms (EMG) by spectrum analysis during constant voluntary sustained contractions. However, dairy works involve dynamic exercise, thus conventional spectrum analysis of surface EMG is insufficient to recognize the influence of dairy works on the lumbar muscles. In this study, we analyzed surface EMG during a cyclic lifting task by using the Matching Pursuit (MP) method that is included in the time-frequency analysis, because surface EMG is composed of the number of motor unit action potentials. The results showed that the time-varying behavior of frequency components by the MP method was clearer than that by the Short-Term Fourier Transform, when the subject were lifting a box higher than 20 inchcs

    This paper presents an accurate estimation formula of minimum filter length for optimum (minimax criterion based) linear-phase finite impulse response (FIR) few-pass digital filters. Two estimation formulae have been already proposed; however, they have some problems which lead to wrong estimation, Discussing the problems based on our experimental results, a new estimation formula is newly proposed, The accuracy of the proposed formula is evaluated in comparison with that of the conventional formulae, Furthermore, the proposed formula is applied to the design of high-pass, band-pass, and band-stop filters. The estimation accuracy is discussed also in this case.

    In speech transmission, the amount of the transmitted data should be fewer with keeping the speech quality enough. The decimation of data in time is an easy way to reduce the amount transmitted. From a viewpoint of phonemic system, the order of the amount may become small as much as the number of phonemes, however, the reduction always causes deterioration of the speech quality. In this paper, we investigate the spectral distortion for kinds of spectrum representation in the data reduction scheme based on the decimation and linear interpolation in time. And we propose IFIS distortion (IFISD) as a spectral distortion measure.

    Under the assumption that the vocal tract is a series of sound tubes, the vocal tract area is estimated from the reflection coefficients of each tube, which is known as a typical method for vocal tract area estimation from speech signal. The reflection coefficients are estimated from PARCOR coefficients by PARCOR analysis in general, however, different contrivances are required to compensate for the effects of sound source waveform and sound radiation from lips. In this paper, we propose a vocal tract area estimation method using "STRAIGHT speech analysis-synthesis method".

    Speech spectrum has peculiar structures resulted from its synthesis processes; especially in its minute structure and total envelope, there exist strongly influences from sound source and articulation, respectively. The STRAIGHT speech analysis-synthesis system proposed by Kawahara et al.can separate these two structures out of the speech spectrum well, and a smoothed time-frequency spectral envelope can be obtained by STRAIGHT-core. This spectral envelope extraction employs linear interpolation, which is known as a simple example organizing multi-resolution analysis. In this paper, we aim at representing and analyzing the speech amplitude spectrum envelope obtained by STRAIGHT-core, in terms of multi-resolution analysis. In order of importance of each resolution, it is shown that the spectrum can be compressed in the frequency domain and may be interpolated in the time domain. The interpolation possibly has a preferable property compared to the cepstrum interpolation.

    This paper presents an accurate estimation formula for the, minimum filter length of optimum (the minimax criterion based) FIR low-pass digital filters. The authors have proposed an accurate estimation formula for the particular case that the passband and stopband ripples are identical. Now we expand the formula for the general case. The accuracy of the proposed for mula is evaluated in comparison with that of the conventional formulae. It is also described how to apply the proposed-formula for the design of other types of filters.

    In the band-limited signal space, the mutual relation between continuous time signal and discrete time signal is expressed by the sampling theorem of Whittaker-Someya-Shannon. This theorem consists of an orthonormal expansion formula using sinc functions. In that formula, the expansion coefficients are identical to the sample values of signals. In general, the band-limited signal space is not always suited to model the signals in nature. The authors have proposed a new model for signal processing based on finite times continuously differentiable functions. This paper aims to complete the sampling theorem for the spline signal spaces, which corresponds to the sampling theorem of Whittaker-Someya-Shannon in the band-limited signal space. Since the obtained sampling theorem gives the simplest representation of signals, it is considered to be the most fundamental characterization of spline functions used for signal processing. The biorthonormal basis derived in this paper is considered to be a system of delta functions at sampling points with some continuous differentiability.

    A practical method of designing windows by using C-spline functions is proposed. Given sidelobe fall-off controls the frequency characteristics at higher frequencies, while desired characteristics and specified error tolerance control those at lower frequencies. The optimal dimension is determined as the minimum to satisfy the tolerance of error in approximating the desired characteristics in the logarithmic scale. The effectiveness of this method is demonstrated by several design examples superior to Kaiser-Bessel, gaussian, Hanning, Blackman, Parzen or cos(alpha) x windows. respectively.

    遅延の伴う一組の対向伝送線路に対して2点受音した音波形を入力し、その瞬時振幅と瞬時位相の比較から目的とする方位の信号成分を抽出する方法を開発した。同一音源からの音響的特徴は一致するという仮定のもと、2本の指向性マイクロホンによって受音された音響信号から音源方位推定を行い、音源数と音源方位推定実験をコンピュータシミュレーションによって行った。標本化周波数が20kHzの条件では、点音源数が2つの場合まではほぼ100%の抽出能力が確認された。一方、音源数の増加に従い急激に正解方位以外の音源が抽出される場合が増加することも確認された。次に、推定された音源方位からの成分を音響的性質の一致に基づいて分離した。視聴実験の結果、もとの混合音よりも音源方位音が強調され聴きやすさの改善効果が確認された。

    本研究の目的は、聴覚作業中に生じる疲労・ストレスを計測可能な生体信号から客観的に評価・推定する方法を開発することである。聴覚心理物理実験は人間の高度な脳機能の一部である聴覚信号処理機構を解明するための有力な一手法でもあるが、実験の間に生じる被験者の疲労やストレスが問題になる。現在は実験者の経験や被験者の主観的な申告に基づいて調節されているが、客観的に評価されているとは言い難い。本研究では、この問題を解消し、聴覚心理実験において疲労やストレスの影響を客観的な評価によって確認しながら実験を遂行するための基礎となる。

    本研究の目的は、人間の聴覚機構に存在する選択的聴取機構について、計算機による聴覚情景解析の考え方にそって、選択的聴取機構の数理的本質を明らかにし、これを計算機上に実現することによって、雑音・残響が存在する実環境においてさえも目的信号音を忠実に再現できるシステムを実現することである。そこで、本年度は、(1)聴覚末梢の生理モデルによる聴神経発火のゆらぎの検討、および、(2)少数マイクロホンによる目的音と雑音の推定方法の検討、を行なった。得られた結果は以下の通りである。

    1.聴覚の生理モデルによる音源方向の推定:神経発火やシナプス伝達などの生体内部で行なわれる情報伝達の信号パターンを計算機上に実現し、それらをを時間差検出回路モデルに適用することで音源方向定位機能を構築した。そして、実際の聴神経に現れるような時間的なゆらぎを持つ神経インパルスを模擬した信号を入力として用いて、信号伝達の時間的な冗長性や時間的ゆ

    本研究では、音声の瞬時的な構造解析法の構築を試みている。その基盤として、自然観測法理論に基づいた波形観測を採用している。この際、瞬時に関する時間スケ-ルは、ピッチ周波数程度から、音素知覚程度、単語知覚程度まで、自然観測法理論の観測パラメ-タを調節することによって変化させ、動的な特徴の時間スケ-ルによるの違いを分析する。またEGG波形との比較により発声器官の運動との関連を探ろうとしている.

    平成9年度までに、音声波形の瞬時的特徴として瞬時的な極の推定法を提案し、それによる音声波形の分析結果として時間的に変動する極の様子を可視化できることを確かめた。本年度は、本手法の高速算法の検討、音声デ-タの収集、DSPへの実装等を予定していた。本手法の高速算法に関しては、基本観測値系列を求めるためのフィルタ群を自己回帰的に構成すると共に一度計算された値を利用するように構成することによって高速化及び記憶容量の削減を実現した

    音声の中に含まれる情報には、音声波形の物理的な特徴量の時間変化として現われるものがある。このような情報を分析するためには、瞬時的な特徴(瞬時周波数、瞬時振幅など)を扱える分析法が必要となる。本研究の目的は、音声の瞬時的な構造解析法の構築を試みることである。その理論的な基盤として自然観測法理論を採用している。まず母音波形を全極型のフィルタから得られる時間波形であると考えることにより、そのパラメ-タ推定を行う手法について考察した。この手法には、着目時間長を制御するパラメ-タによって様々な時間スケ-ルの分析対象に対応できる、とう特徴がある。また当初は連続時間波形に対して提案されていた自然観測法理論を離散時間波形に対して新たに提案し、ディジタルコンピュ-タで実装した。これを用いてパラメ-タ推定を行い、母音波形の分析を試みた結果、着目時間長が数ピッチに渡っているときには従来法と同様に母音の特徴とされるホルマ

    1.図源(2階微分画像)を基礎に置いた理論体系の再構築

    従来の視覚パタ-ンの基礎方程式を土台として、図源に対する方程式を導出し、これを基にして観測変換の構造解明を行った結果、現点・視点を求める超越方程式を、従来よりも簡潔な形式として確立することが出来た。

    2.超越方程式の高速解法演算方式に関する研究

    最急降下法による逐次解法演算が陥る基本的問題に対して、詳細な理論的研究を行い、その解決法を与えた。また逐次解が作る数列に対して、それが属する型の認識を行うことにより、収束から程遠い段階でその極限値を一挙に推定する画期的方法を確立した。これらの成果を基にした超越方程式の高速解法は、今後の課題として残された。

    3.パタ-ンの基本的変形に対する確率分布の型の理論的決定

    同形変換はパタ-ン変形の中の最も基本的なものであるが、その変形が発生する確率分布の型を、理論的に解明した。特に伸縮問題に関してそれが対数正規分布を為す
