近年,アレーアンテナを用いた高分解能到来方向推定は,レーダや伝搬チャネル推定のみならず,スマートアンテナ,RF-IDにおけるタグの位置推定など,応用分野を広げている.高い波源分解能特性を実現するには,通常,MUSIC法などのスーパーレゾリューション法が用いられる.しかしながらそれらの手法の性能を発揮するためには,アレーの素子間相互結合の校正が不可欠であり,どのように校正行列を推定するかが問題となる.本稿では,アレーのインピーダンス行列に基づく容易な校正手法を提案する.例えば,一様アレーの場合,推定が必要な未知パラメータは1つのみとなる.ここでは,その有効性を計算機シミュレーションにより示す.

For some special case, Huynen's decomposition cannot be used to extract a desired target from an average Kennaugh matrix. In this paper, the authors modify Huynen's method for overcoming its disadvantage, based on a simple transform of a Kennaugh matrix. Using an example, the effectiveness of the modified method is validated.

In this letter, a new formula is proposed for calculating the polarization entropy, based on the least square method. There is no need to calculate the eigenvalues of a covariance matrix as well as to use logarithms of values. So the time for computing the polarization entropy is reduced. Using polarimetric SAR data, the authors validate the effectiveness of the new formula.

This paper examines polarimetric scattering characteristics caused by a dihedral corner reflector of finite size. The dihedral corner reflector is a basic model of double-bounce structure in urban area. The detailed scattering information serves the interpretation of Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (POLSAR) data analysis. The Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method is utilized for the scattering calculation because of its simplicity and flexibility in the target shape modeling. This paper points out that there exists a stable double-bounce squint angle region both for perfect electric conductor (PEC) and dielectric corner reflectors. Beyond this stable squint angular region, the scattering characteristics become completely different from the assumed response. A criterion on the double-bounce scattering is proposed based on the physical optics (PO) approximation. The detailed analyses on the polarimetric index (copolarization ratio) with respect to squint angle and an experimental result measured in an anechoic chamber are shown.

We have developed a wide-area surveillance sensor with a pair of leaky coaxial cables (LCX). It detects targets in the surveillance area by scattering signals generated by targets whose positions are measured using propagation delay time. Such a sensor has been studied previously; however, several problems remain. The primary issue is two-dimensional sensing which in practice is desired to improve the accuracy of the boundary tine of the surveillance area.
In this paper, we present a fundamental beam-forming technique for LCXs and a method for measuring 2-diemensional target position using a multi-frequency measurement technique.
